Non sapere aude! About the courage not to rely on one's own reason

Description

Philosophy for everyone! The Philosophy Festival at Urania. Philosophical discussion with: Thomas Grundmann (University of Cologne) & Lars Weisbrod (ZEIT, Hamburg)
Framework: Benjamin Küntzel "Have courage to use your own reason!" – Kant's famous motto of the Enlightenment seems more relevant than ever today. But how far can we go with independent thinking in a world where our knowledge is becoming increasingly specialized and we inevitably depend on others? When is it reasonable to judge for oneself – and when is it reasonable to trust experts? Philosopher Thomas Grundmann and ZEIT journalist Lars Weisbrod discuss the social dependence of our knowledge, the appropriate level of trust, and the limits of independent thinking.
