Description
One day after the 125th birthday of Marlene Dietrich, Magdalena Ganter and her trio present a special concert evening between the past and the present. The program combines excerpts from her acclaimed album "Transit" with first insights into her brand new project "Marlene" – a musical homage to the legendary film icon, anti-fascist, and advocate for freedom, democracy, and self-determination. "Out of decency!" was Marlene Dietrich's response when asked why she was an anti-fascist. On the occasion of her 125th birthday, Magdalena Ganter pays musical tribute to this extraordinary personality. She sets to music largely unknown poems of the resistance activist and complements them with her own songs, inspired by icons of the independence movement. Between jazz, chanson noir, and soul, a unique and contemporary sound unfolds. In this concert, Dietrich's texts, Ganter's unmistakable handwriting, and the question of what stance art can take today come together. Magdalena Ganter, vocals
Chris Kube, piano
Sebastian König, drums
