In 2017, the paths of Albanian-born singer Elina Duni, who grew up in Switzerland, and British guitarist Rob Luft crossed at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Since then, they have been touring the world together and have released two critically acclaimed albums with a quartet on ECM Records. With their new album, they return as a duo to the roots of their first encounter. Their different musical backgrounds uniquely blend: Elina Duni draws from the traditions of Albanian folk music, while Rob Luft develops his signature from jazz, folk, and contemporary improvisation.
