Description
The Iranian santur virtuoso Arezoo Rezvani and the Israeli percussionist Liron Meyuhas met in 2019 at the Tamburi Mundi Festival in Freiburg. Despite the political tensions between their home countries, a deep artistic and human connection developed from this encounter. In their joint music-making, a space was created where an Iranian and an Israeli were primarily two musicians listening to each other – and where being human became more important than any label. With santur, daf, and handpan, they weave traditional Persian melodies with Mediterranean rhythms, free improvisation, and contemporary world music. Original compositions as well as singing in Persian, Hebrew, and English create dense soundscapes full of poetic melodies and complex rhythms. Arezoo Rezvani was born in Isfahan (Iran). She is a musician and music educator. Today, she lives in Germany and works as a performer, lecturer, and workshop leader for Persian music. Liron Meyuhas hails from Jerusalem and studied rhythm in West Africa, Italy, and Egypt. As Israel's first professional handpan artist, she performs internationally. --> This concert is included in the festival ticket: All six concerts of the World-Town-Festival 2027 including a free drink per concert: €119, for students: €99
