Description
A piano concerto for chamber ensemble. With "Phlox" and Wataru Hisasue, a string quintet and a pianist perform the third concert of this season. Phlox is a string quartet extended by a double bass, featuring Anne Katharina Schreiber and Lotta Suvanto (violin), Yuko Hara (viola), and Philine Lembeck (cello). The double bass is played by Mariona Mateu Carles. Wataru Hisasue, born in 1994 in Kyoto, has previously performed in Müllheim. He will perform the movement "Sheherazade" from the three-part album Masques op. 34 by Karol Szymanowski as a solo piece. The ensemble "Phlox" presents Dvorak's String Quintet op. 77 in G major. After the intermission, Chopin's second piano concerto in F minor op. 21 will follow, with the string ensemble taking over the orchestral part. Chopin demonstrated that this work can be performed with a chamber ensemble even before its premiere in 1830, when he performed the piano concerto in a smaller setting at his parents' house. It features a virtuosic and freely shaped solo part, which is no longer strictly bound to thematic development but also introduces independent aspects.
