Description

Rose Ausländer draws strength for her songs from the root system of trees. What strength do you find in the roots of your tree of life? Does the foliage of your favorite tree whisper stories to you? Delicate, hopefully green? Does it tell stories of ripening, harvesting, passing away, and renewal? "As trees, we will be gentler," Hilde Domin suspects. Gentleness, consistency, a yes to rhythmic change are qualities we can practice and strengthen in personal life. They are counterforces to radicalism in world events. We want to write texts that encourage us to "invoke the sky" and want to ask like Paul Gerhardt: "Make room in me for your spirit, that I may become a good tree for you, and let me take root!" A wealth of tree poems inspires prose or poetic writing. In the group, we read aloud what has been created and challenge ourselves to try new forms of writing. The course instructor provides methodological support.

General Information

The workshop "And let me take root" takes place at Kappel Monastery and invites participants to discover the power of their roots. Through writing their own texts and reading aloud in the group, a space for creative development and exchange is created.
