Description
COLLECTIVE RHYTHMS OF PAIN is a choreographic work by and with people living with chronic pain. Lyn Bentschik and her team explore both artistically and on a process level how we can create a more inclusive working environment for people with chronic pain, a world that is otherwise characterized by performance thinking and body optimization in dance. The piece was created with consideration of the circumstances that chronic pain patients experience daily, with choreography and stage reflecting their feelings and challenges. FELT RELATIONS by Simea Cavelti weaves a thread between Graubünden and Lebanon. The sheep and its wool serve as a symbol for the commonalities between different places and cultures. For the piece's development, Simea accompanied shepherds while herding sheep and observed the ongoing processes. Inspired by this research process in the mountains and the wool processing, the piece explores the complex relationship between humans, nature, tradition, and culture, inviting the audience to perceive infinity, rawness, and tenderness. Felting, an ancient, repetitive, and cross-cultural gesture, is choreographically examined as a primal metaphor, becoming visually and physically tangible. On stage, a resonance field emerges between the wool and the human body, two relationship-based, soft, and resilient fabrics that breathe with the inner and outer space.
