Two soldiers travel with a secret mission to the heart of the wilderness. The further they move away from Western civilization, the more reality intertwines with fantasy on their journey. The dangerous path into the depths of the Afghan wilderness is also a perilous journey into the darkness of the human soul. Lotz's Směšná temnota is an intelligent, witty, and unconventional commentary on the situation of today's 'Western' society. Have we already come to terms with our colonial legacy? Who today carries civilization and who is the barbarian? And what can an author, who studied creative writing and still lives with his parents in Leipzig, possibly write about it?
