Exhibition of Paintings Reflection of Science

Description

The exhibition of paintings with verses by academic painter Miroslav Konrád "Reflection of Science" takes place from September 21 to December 17, 2026, in the vestibule of the Biological Center of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The exhibition features sixty acrylic paintings assembled by academic painter Miroslav Konrád in celebration of science and primarily as a reminder of the legacy of his cousin, Czech-American scientist Josef Michl (1939 - 2024). Professor Josef Michl was a world-renowned chemist whose research spanned from photochemistry and molecular electronics to nanoscience and new materials for solar energy utilization. Among his most ambitious recent discoveries was porphyrin, a new material similar to graphene. Academic painter Miroslav Konrád (born 1945 in České Budějovice) works in the fields of oil painting, watercolor, and art printmaking. He has exhibited in Switzerland, Germany, France, the USA, Canada, Italy, Austria, Poland, Croatia, and Brazil. His works are represented in both private and state collections in the Czech Republic and around the world. The opening will take place on Monday, September 21, at 4:00 PM in the vestibule of the Biological Center of the Czech Academy of Sciences. During the opening, an auction of four paintings will be held, with 70 percent of the proceeds donated to science. The opening will be musically accompanied by Czech Budějovice jazz guitarist Jiří Klimeš. The exhibition is open every weekday from 7 AM to 6 PM. The exhibition is for sale.
