Romont: Guided Tour of the Romont Cheese Factory & Tasting

The Romont Dairy Society has existed since 1844 and has been run by Thierry Ecoffey since 2012. Following a merger with the Chavannes-sous-Romont dairy in 1990, the Romont cheese factory, initially located on the church street, moved into a new building in 1991 in Chavannes-sous-Romont. Since then, the cheese factory processes over 3,200,000 million liters of milk each year. Come discover the manufacturing process which benefits from the most modern facilities, with its automatic milk reception system! The 12,000-liter tank, with double eight stirring, is unique in French-speaking Switzerland. This tank has a capacity of 28 Gruyères in a single load. The cheese cellars, meanwhile, can hold 3,500 cheeses. A tasting awaits you after this visit that will make your mouth water!
