Exhibition "Fride WirtlWalser. Retrospective"

Description

The exhibition in the Salle des Baillis is dedicated to the reverse glass paintings of Fride WirtlWalser (*1932). In a retrospective, her artistic development from the 1970s to the present is traced. The works entered the museum's collection in 2024 as part of a donation from the artist. Carefully compiled by WirtlWalser herself, they form a representative selection of her work and illustrate both the techniques and themes she has dealt with throughout her career. The exhibition focuses on an artist characterized by relentless curiosity and a consistently experimental attitude, continuously seeking new forms of expression in the medium of glass. Fride WirtlWalser comes from the Austrian Kleinwalsertal and has lived in Peiting-Schongau in Upper Bavaria since 1952. Her works have been exhibited in Germany, France, Italy, and Switzerland as well as in Egypt and Russia. In addition, she is the author of four specialist publications on the technique and history of reverse glass painting.
