Requiem in Weiß – The Dignityless Death of Our Glaciers

The glaciers of the Eastern Alps are dying – irreversible, science agrees on that. But while the "eternal ice" diminishes, tourism is booming. In summer, visitors crowd into glacier trains to touch the last remnants. Ski operations run at full speed, and interventions in nature are becoming increasingly drastic: slope stabilizations, glacier coverings, snow depots, artificial snow systems, massive terrain modifications – a race against time. Through in-depth interviews, Harry Putz weaves science and emotion into a disturbing documentary. Filmed on 14 glaciers in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, the film ultimately poses an unavoidable question: How do we want to say goodbye to our glaciers? In cooperation with the Verein CIPRA International, the Alpenverein Bregenz / Dornbirn, and Dornbirner Grüne - the open BürgerInnenliste. Following the screening, a discussion with Jakob Dietachmair, Managing Director of CIPRA International, and representatives of the Alpenverein Bregenz / Dornbirn.
