On the occasion of the Swiss Cheese Awards, the Cultural Office of the City of Freiburg and the Association for Professional and Artistic Photography in Freiburg (PPAF) launched a call for projects inviting photographers to offer an original perspective on the world of cheese. The projects of three Freiburg photographers were selected for participation in a temporary exhibition. Adrien Perritaz, Etienne Francey, and Maël Dupraz Nayak each convey a personal view of this symbol of our cultural heritage. Their sensitive, contemporary, and complementary approaches explore the diverse dimensions of cheese: its texture, its handling, its environment, its symbolic meaning, and ultimately its cultural significance. These three approaches demonstrate the richness of the medium of photography and its ability to offer a new perspective on a subject deeply rooted in the Freiburg region. They invite visitors to discover an artistic experimental space behind a familiar product, where creativity, cultural heritage, and the artist's perspective meet. The exhibition will be on view from October 7 to 31, 2026, at “L’Atelier,” parallel to this major national cheese event.
