Paul Wiedmer – Splendore di fuoco

Description

Born in 1947, Paul Wiedmer is originally from Berthoud where he first trained as a locksmith. From a young age, he became familiar with contemporary art as an assistant to Bernhard Luginbühl, Jean Tinguely, and Niki de Saint Phalle, and quickly launched his own artistic career, which has taken him to Italy, Finland, China, South Korea, Namibia, and the United States. Wiedmer mainly works with metal. His most famous works are iron sculptures animated by flames. Since the 1980s, he has lived partly in Civitella d’Agliano, in central Italy. There, he has developed the sculpture garden La Serpara, a place enriched year after year with new works by Wiedmer and artist friends. Besides his three-dimensional works, he has also created numerous graphic works.
