This summer, the famous whale of the Natural History Museum Freiburg is moving as the very first object to the future location of the museum on Zeughausstrasse. There, the historic specimen of a sei whale will patiently wait until the new museum opens its doors to the public at the end of 2028. To ease the farewell and honor the over 170-year-old sea giant, the museum launched the competition "Our Whale in Miniature Format" and called for three-dimensional representations of the whale. The participants have exceeded the boldest expectations with their imaginative sculptures! Around 120 works can be discovered in the exhibition designed by the agency wapico, including the winning works awarded by a professional jury.
