Edvard Grieg - String Quartet in G minor op. 27 The Swedish-Norwegian String Quartet Opus13, winner of the 1st prize and five special awards at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition 2025, as well as the 1st prize and all three special awards at the 11th Bordeaux International Competition 2025, is one of the most exciting young ensembles in Europe, praised for its vitality and rich palette of colors. The quartet, founded in 2014, first gained international attention when it won second prize at the International String Quartet Competition in Banff in 2022. The following year, it received the prestigious Norwegian Equinor Classical Music Award, joining a list of renowned laureates such as Leif Ove Andsnes, Lise Davidsen, and Vilde Frang. The ensemble has performed at concert series and festivals such as the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht in the Netherlands, Chamber Music Northwest in Oregon, the East Neuk Festival in Scotland, the Yeulmaru and Yonsei Chamber Music Festivals in South Korea, the Rusk Festival in Finland, and most major chamber music festivals in Norway, including the Bergen International Festival and festivals in Stavanger, Rosendal, Trondheim, and Risør. Opus13 has collaborated with leading international musicians such as Janine Jansen, Olli Mustonen, Julian Bliss, Alisa Weilerstein, Tabea Zimmermann, Jonathan Biss, and Anne Sofie von Otter. It is guided and coached by Bjørg Lewis and Berit Cardas from the Vertavo Quartet, as well as Tim Frederiksen.
Opus13 is the founder and artistic director of Vinterspill på Lillehammer, an annual chamber music festival in the Norwegian Olympic city. Presale for individual tickets begins on September 1, 2026.
