The magnificent residence of the Näfels guard captain Kaspar Freuler (circa 1595-1651) is one of the most important secular buildings in Switzerland from the 17th century. Built between 1642 and 1648 on the edge of the Glarus village of Näfels, this manor house still features representative state rooms from the 17th century. The movable room inventory was lost during the sale of the house in 1840/1841. Thanks to the foresight and monument preservation sensibility of the municipality of Näfels, these state rooms can still be shown today in this unique state of preservation.
