The libretto by Auden and Kallman captures the muted violence of lost illusions and the rhythm of a city where everything can change. More than a moral tale, it is a lucid parable about our fragilities, a story where humor and shadow vie for each measure. The score revisits Mozart with jubilant precision, distorting codes and transforming homage into a manifesto of independence.
