The Visit of the Old Lady by Friedrich Dürrenmatt

Description

A billionaire orchestrates a deadly revenge. How far is a village willing to go to ensure its survival?
Claire Zachanassian's return, a billionaire ready to buy the death of the one who betrayed her, shakes her hometown. Gradually, the community succumbs to temptation, revealing its flaws and contradictions. Through this relentless fable, Friedrich Dürrenmatt questions the power of money: can everything be bought, even justice? First presented in 1994 and internationally acclaimed, Omar Porras's staging is now recreated. An artist associated with the Dürrenmatt Center in Neuchâtel since 2015, he revisits this classic with renewed sharpness. Between corruption, collective responsibility, and survival instinct, the play resonates with our times and highlights urgent issues that confront our consciences with their own limits.
