Description
This concert presents a dialogue between two poles of 20th-century French music: Maurice Ravel and Olivier Messiaen. The first half is dedicated to Ravel's exotic themes, including Shéhérazade and arrangements of Greek and Jewish folk songs, showcasing Mediterranean and Middle Eastern motifs. The second half features Messiaen's monumental cycle Harawi, inspired by Andean folklore and Peruvian myths, reinterpreting the Tristan and Isolde story through a unique cultural lens. Performers include Ukrainian pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi and Dutch mezzo-soprano and harpist Ekaterina Levental.
