Georgian Wine Tasting with Snacks

Georgia is considered the cradle of wine: for about 8000 years, wine has been produced there, traditionally in Qvevri, large clay vessels buried in the ground. This ancient method is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage and produces wines that taste different from anything we know from Europe: independent, characterful, and surprisingly diverse. On this evening, you will experience a selection of Georgian wines from traditional grape varieties such as Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. An expert lecture will introduce you to the millennia-old wine culture of Georgia and open a window into a country between the Caucasus and the Black Sea, which has much to tell both culinarily and culturally. The tasting is accompanied by fine snacks inspired by Georgian cuisine - a cuisine famous for its hospitality as well as its flavors of walnuts, pomegranate, fresh herbs, and spicy cheese bread. (WSET Level 3 & Wine Academician – Modules I & II completed)
leads the tasting. The wine expert learned his craft at the renowned Wine & Spirit Education Trust and completed the WSET Level 3 diploma with distinction. Professionally at home in international marketing, his passion is wine - and on this evening especially the wines of Georgia. With much knowledge and palpable enthusiasm, he takes you on a journey through the Georgian wine world - understandable for beginners, exciting also for connoisseurs. Barbara Münch, host of Villa Wellentanz, and Leona Bruderer, friend of the house, take care of the culinary side. Together they prepare the snacks that accompany the wines - with attention to detail and a fine sense of what suits fine wines. Registration is absolutely required!

General Information

The wine tasting takes place at Villa Wellentanz in Wila and offers an introduction to the millennia-old wine culture of Georgia. Participants can enjoy a selection of unique wines while learning more about the traditional wine production.
