A musical-literary evening with piano works, letters, and diary excerpts

Three names, three voices, an emotional field of tension: Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, and Johannes Brahms are at the center of this romantic-tragic program. Music and words intertwine – piano pieces alternate with correspondence and diary excerpts, closely coordinated in content and designed as a narrative arc.

The young Brahms writes to Clara, who is fourteen years older, the sentence: “Your letters are like kisses to me!” While Clara secures the family's livelihood as a pianist, Brahms accompanies the seriously ill Robert Schumann, who lives in a psychiatric hospital after a suicide attempt. From closeness, comfort, and tenderness, a relationship "in the triangle" arises – touching, multi-layered, deeply human.

A press review describes the concert format as “a heartfelt biography in the form of a musical-literary concert.”
