Description
The Volkshochschule Aarau course, led by Italianist Ernst Strebel, spans three afternoons and explores the symbolism and structure of Dante's Divine Comedy. Participants will examine key passages from the Inferno, gaining insights into Dante's journey through the afterlife, which also reflects on human existence. The course emphasizes the work's enduring fascination and its rich portrayal of characters like Francesca, Paolo, and Odysseus, offering a journey into both the afterlife and the inner worlds of readers. The recommended bilingual edition by Reclam, translated and commented by Hartmut Köhler, will be used for reading and interpretation.
