Description

The collection presentation resembles a visual family reunion: self-portraits by artists meet depictions of mothers, uncles, and cousins. How do artists portray themselves – and those close to them? We encounter painting brothers, farming families, and works from four generations. But kinships are found not only in families but also between works. They can be similar formally, thematically, or technically, across times and genres. The exhibition shows tense and harmonious constellations – like in some families.
