Description

The small formats by the Aargau artist Gabi Fuhrimann (1958–2021) invite you to view them up close. The mostly square, geometrically constructed paintings are designed like a mosaic. Often, a woman is the central motif. The body almost disappears into the color structure – but not entirely. Our proximity to the image creates an intimate viewing experience, like a devotional image, where we see the figure reading, dancing, spreading her arms. Any one of us could be this woman: thus, the image also becomes a projection surface or even a mirror.

The Aargau Art Museum collected works during the artist's lifetime and dedicates a collection focus to her.
