Description

The Hungarian musicians take you into the native idiom with its lush harmonies and fiery rhythms. Right at the beginning, the serenade of the Hungarian cosmopolitan Ernst von Dohnányi is played, followed by Kodály's Intermezzo, which explicitly refers to the preceding serenade. A virtuoso fireworks display is offered by the almost unknown Grand Duo concertant by the great Franz Liszt for violin and piano.
After the break, the 2nd Piano Quartet by Antonín Dvořák, the Hungarian Brahms, is performed, another highlight of the genre, especially noteworthy here the lively Furiant (as a scherzo) as well as the grandmotherly narrative in the Dumka, presented by the alto voice of the viola. Cast
