Cantar del Alma Carlos Gimenez - Saxophone José Alberto del Cerro - Piano Carlos Gimenez is a Spanish classical saxophonist and winner of various international competitions. Since his solo debut with orchestra in Valencia in 2012 at the age of 19, he has been active as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician. Since 2023, he has been living in Germany and has performed with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, the DSO Berlin, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, and the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest. As a chamber musician, Carlos Gimenez collaborates with ensembles, choirs, composers, and instrumentalists, covering a wide range of formats and repertoire. Since 2023, he has been the soprano saxophonist of the renowned Clair-obscur Saxophone Quartet. He is praised for his lyrical phrasing, expressiveness, and technical brilliance. With passion, he advocates for the presence of the saxophone on chamber music stages and in orchestral programs. His latest recital project with piano, "Cantar del Alma," is a very personal journey featuring vocal music by Wagner, Rachmaninoff, and from Spain—reimagined for the saxophone. The program was recently performed at the Philharmonie Berlin and will be released in 2026 as his debut CD with Musikproduktion Dabringhaus & Grimm.
