Barbara Forever

Description

102 min.–documentary(2026) vo:en/subtitles:fr dès 16 ans de Brydie O'Connor (United States) Camera fixed to the wrist, Barbara Hammer filmed everything. Her companions, lovers, friends, feminist questions, nature, intimacy, death, etc. She remains one of the first to document lesbian lives, to question, understand, and leave traces of these free women. Her work is the perfect example of the intimate as politics. Her key word: experiment. To break with tradition and practice new possibilities. Always with humor. Through five decades, from the hippie movement of the 1970s to queer communities of the 2010s, she built a gigantic body of work, which has gained recognition in artistic and cultural circles. The portrait is rich, perfectly documented, navigating from film excerpts to photographs to the sound of the artist's own voice-over. An immersive, liberating, and inspiring film.
