Festival ANIMATOU, the best of contemporary animation

Description

ANIMATOU invites young and old to discover the best of contemporary animation, particularly through a rich program of recent short films from around the world.
The various competitive sections (international, Swiss, documentary, experimental, from 14 years old) highlight the diversity and creativity of the genre, including a public prize awarded by the audience during the Swiss competition.
For the young audience, the festival offers dedicated screenings, such as the highly anticipated Best of Annecy, feature films and workshops to spark their imagination.
Between special screenings by big names in the field, retrospectives, masterclasses, meetings, and festive moments, ANIMATOU celebrates animation in all its forms, for families, enthusiasts, professionals, and future talents.
The complete program will be unveiled on Thursday, September 17, 2026, on the festival's website.
Several cultural venues will host the festival: l'Alhambra, Blue cinema, the Municipal Library of the City, the Museum of Ethnography of Geneva, the HEAD Geneva campus, the Florimont Institute, the Satigny Municipal Hall, Spoutnik cinema, the Grütli cinemas, Bio cinema, the Carouge Museum, and the Arcade of the Contemporary Art Center of Geneva.
Private screenings are also organized in collaboration with the Geneva School Services, the House of Children and Adolescents of HUG (MEA), Scala and Nord-Sud cinemas.
