Description

For its 6th Carte blanche, the MAH invited John M Armleder (Geneva, *1948). With him, the museum, which preserves more than 500 works by the internationally renowned artist in its collection, found an ideal curator who is able to continue an extraordinary dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary creation. Observatories is a thematic journey where each room explores a different universe – from animals to abstract painting, from musical instruments to lighting fixtures. By juxtaposing the impressive architecture of the MAH and the extensive museum collection, John M Armleder stages a unique exhibition in which each object fits in an equally surprising and coherent way. Carried by ephemeral structures and overlay games, everyday and aesthetic objects find themselves in a mutual exchange that constantly opens up new possibilities: an invitation to stroll, so that all visitors can form their own repertoire of ideas and associations.
