As part of a new collaborative format, the MAH invites the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MAMCO) to take over the Rath with an exhibition dedicated to Sylvia Sleigh. Sylvia Sleigh (1916-2010) was a British painter whose figurative work developed between London and New York. Her portraits overturn traditional codes of gaze and nudity, offering a critical reinterpretation of the history of representation. The exhibition brings together a collection of emblematic works from the 1960s and 1970s, at a time when she was integrating into the New York art scene. Echoing this historical work, the Refaire collection project occupies the second level with a polygraphic and contemporary approach. This second proposal invites a critical and feminist reinterpretation of the canons of art history, questioning established narratives and the place of women in museums. Together, these two components offer a powerful reflection on visibility, gender, and artistic memory.
