Description

This tour explores the iconic Wiener Werkbundsiedlung, including an interior tour of the Rietveld House and a look at the neighboring prefabricated settlement by Carl Auböck and Roland Rainer. This architecture walk takes participants to remarkable buildings by Josef Frank and Adolf Loos in the Wiener Werkbundsiedlung. Under the overall direction of Frank, together with 31 architects, forty different single-family house types were created here. A highlight of the tour is a guided visit to the Rietveld House revitalized in 2022 by Silja Tillner. Afterwards, the tour proceeds to the neighboring Veitingergasse, where in the 1950s, a model settlement of a prefabricated construction concept with modular house technology was built, planned by Carl Auböck and Roland Rainer.
