Description
From leather goods to guitars: A walk through the Hietzinger Altgasse offers insights into the work of craft businesses. What is the history of craftsmanship in Vienna? And what role does it play today? For several years, the research project INVISIBLE CRAFT has been exploring the traces of craft businesses and their workshops in Vienna, which are increasingly disappearing into invisibility. The walks provide insights into craft practice and artistic creation and offer the opportunity to experience work processes firsthand, see materials up close, and discuss the future of craftsmanship with the artisans. The walk on October 1st will lead to the Hietzinger Altgasse, where guitar maker and restorer Michael Eipeldauer of Gold’n’Guitars and the leather goods manufactory of Silvia Proy will be visited.
