For 60 years, the Cantonal Archaeology has been researching, documenting, and preserving the archaeological heritage of the Canton of St. Gallen. After a short tour of selected finds in the permanent exhibition, the discussion will focus on six dynamic decades: How did Cantonal Archaeology develop from its modest beginnings in 1966 to the current specialist office? Which major projects shaped its work? And what tasks and challenges does it face today? A look back – and at current perspectives. Museum cocktail: 60 moving years – from the beginnings to modern Cantonal Archaeology, short tour of the archaeological permanent exhibition, followed by a discussion at MUCAFÉ with Dr. Martin Schindler, Cantonal Archaeologist of St. Gallen, and Leandra Reitmaier-Naef, Curator, CHF 15 including museum cocktail, also valid as museum entry.
