Description
A journey to one of the most pristine and mysterious countries on our planet: Bhutan, the kingdom in the Himalayas. In his impressive live film report, Stefan Erdmann takes the audience to a world far from everyday life – characterized by vast landscapes, deeply rooted faith, and touching encounters. Over weeks, he travels with elaborate camera equipment through the country and gains rare insights into the lives of the people. Impressive monastery castles, remote valleys, and the silent power of the Himalayas shape his images – as do encounters with the people who make Bhutan a special place. With calm camera movements, atmospheric music, and personal comments, an intense film experience is created that touches deeply. The question that Bhutan has made known worldwide repeatedly arises: What does happiness mean? And what can we learn from it? Bhutan is the only country in the world where the "Gross National Happiness" is a state goal – and where spirituality and everyday life are inextricably linked. Prayer wheels, monasteries, and centuries-old traditions shape life as much as an impressive natural scenery with peaks over 7000 meters high. "Bhutan 26° 28° N" is an extraordinary live film lecture about a country that touches, inspires, and leaves a lasting impression. Stefan Erdmann, born in '66, is an independent filmmaker and has already found his own way to portray a country through his multi-part and worldwide published nature documentary "Island 63° 66° N". Far from the style of commercial film productions, he manages to depict people, animals, and nature in an intensely authentic way through his own very calm visual language and camera work.
