WunderWelten in Augustinum: Island - Live Report by and with Dirk Bleyer

Description

For nearly 10 years, National Geographic photographer Dirk Bleyer has been traversing the most remote corners of Iceland annually and for months, in every season, with photo and film cameras. He collects images full of magic and enchantment and defies the primal forces of nature. On a snowmobile, he speeds across ice fields at minus 20 degrees to a spewing volcano with the unpronounceable name Eyjafjallajökull. On an Icelandic horse, the photojournalist rides Tölt over beaches and waves, and in a kayak, he visits the adorable puffins. Driven purely by adventure, Dirk Bleyer roars for days over dangerous glacier crevasses with three 'superjeeps' or hikes 50 km along the 'most beautiful hiking trail in the world.' The 70-year-old pilot Omar Ragnarson takes the photo reporter on a daring flight in a rusty Cessna, and he celebrates a unique party with the large family of a sheep farmer after the legendary sheep drive. Dirk Bleyer's humorous, up-to-date, and visually powerful Iceland multimedia presentation is a homage to this island on the edge of the habitable world. It becomes a true journey in the intoxication of the senses!
