The case of Collien Fernandes shook Germany – and at the same time exposed how everyday male violence against women is: digital and analog, physical, psychological, public, private. It also showed how inadequate the German legal system is in protecting affected women and how large the gap between outrage and political action still is. Entrepreneurs, authors, and activists Kristina Lunz and Düzen Tekkal do not want to accept this. Together with politician Ricarda Lang, they initiated the nationwide much-noticed campaign "In Solidarity with Collien Fernandes," supported by more than 250 women from politics, culture, media, business, and civil society. The resulting petition formulates ten concrete demands against male and digital violence – and mobilized hundreds of thousands of supporters in a very short time. In her book "Who gave you permission to hate women so much?" Lunz and Tekkal show that violence against women is not a fringe problem, an isolated case, or a private tragedy, but a structural problem. They identify deficits in criminal law, failures in law enforcement, and the lack of a coherent national strategy against gender-based violence. At the same time, they ask what political, legal, and societal changes are necessary so that protection no longer depends on chance. It is an evening about anger and responsibility, about law and justice, about solidarity and the concrete demand on society that women should not have to accept violence – and often still have to fight for credibility, protection, and consequences afterward. "A society where there is de facto no justice for women subjected to male violence is not a society we can accept." Kristina Lunz is an entrepreneur, author, and human rights activist. She founded the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy and has worked, among other things, for the United Nations and as an advisor at the Federal Foreign Office. Her books include "The Future of Foreign Policy is Feminist" and "Empathy and Resistance." Düzen Tekkal, daughter of a Yazidi-Kurdish refugee family, is a political scientist, social entrepreneur, publicist, and human rights activist. In 2015, she founded HÁWAR with her sisters. help, and in 2019, the educational initiative GermanDream followed. She is committed to combating extremism, women's rights, democracy, and an open society.
