In their book, the five sisters, human rights activists, and fighters for a better world tell their story together for the first time – and show what our society can learn from it, and how we can strengthen each other. Values like empathy, courage, responsibility, rebellion, joy, care have shaped their lives. They tell of childhood and origin, of ruptures and alliances, of what becomes possible when women do not hold back but make each other great. A manifesto for a new togetherness. The five Tekkal sisters were born in Hanover as daughters of a Yazidi-Kurdish refugee family with eleven siblings. Their engagement began with a brave report on the genocide of the Islamic State (IS) against the Yazidi population in 2014. They founded the human rights organization "HAWAR. help" to provide practical support to traumatized women and girls worldwide. With the educational initiative "GermanDream," they also bring value education into schools and invite young people to dialogue about democracy and integration. Although the sisters are completely different, they work and live the same idea: one as a social entrepreneur, political scientist, and publicist, another takes care operationally that help reaches where it is needed, another is a former Bundesliga footballer and was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for her empowerment program "Scoring Girls," a fourth handles networking and conducts school workshops nationwide, and a fifth uses her opportunities as a DJ, entertainer, and activist to reach millions through the media.
