Walk&Talk Chocolate

Description

In this outdoor course, you will look beyond the obvious and learn about a complex value chain. We talk about products, but also about the many people and companies that are part of this chain: the cocoa farmers in the global South, the large, unknown intermediaries, the chocolate brands, and the supermarkets. We also encounter problems such as unfair wages, child labor, and deforestation, but also discuss positive developments and concrete options for action. The event concludes with a tasting of fair and fine chocolates at the claro world shop.
We meet in front of the adult education center and then walk through various stations outdoors to keep the brain well ventilated. In bad weather, the Walk&Talk can be postponed. Dr. Robert Schikowski is an education officer at the Förderverein Oikocredit German Switzerland, where he combines his professional experience from research, university management, and adult education with his passion for sustainable development. His original training is linguistics, which brought him into contact with topics such as disadvantaged communities and global justice through field research stays in Nepal and Canada.
