Sandrine Pelletier burns, shatters, tests the material. She confronts wood, metal, and glass with fire, acid, and chance. But she does not destroy; she transforms; through rough processes, she gives the materials more delicacy. Her works present landscapes after the shock and pointed statements about our current realities. The Lausanne artist lived in Lebanon and Cairo. Since 2012, her work has been profoundly shaped by her experiences in these regions marked by upheavals, destructions, and renewals. She creates a body of work that pays attention to remnants that persist despite decay. The darker the night, the more necessary the trace. And even if the material burns and turns black, the roses and light remain in Sandrine Pelletier's work. Sandrine Pelletier, born in 1976, lives and works between Cairo and Lausanne. Jean-Luc Verna is one of those artists for whom art and life are one. His daily life is a performance, his body a sculpture or a battlefield, the air he moves is filled with New Wave sounds and decadent glamour. Yet his work goes beyond himself: drawings proliferate, musical landscapes, birds as harbingers of bad omens, damaged portraits of humanity; installations recall a music hall world. While Verna's sky seems covered with rhinestones, the star that has watched over his fate for thirty years is black or metallic. Verna is also an artist who advocates for forgotten or oppressed communities, especially those of the LGBTQIA+. His seemingly serious work is aware of successive tragedies. It is a work of remembrance that rejects seriousness and, like a poet who believes himself defeated, sings victory in falling. Jean-Luc Verna, born in 1966, lives and works in Paris.
