Exhibition "Tendresse critique"

Description

With "Tendresse critique", Sophie Ballmer and Tarik Hayward continue their reflection on fragility. Their gestures of repair, reuse, and transformation open the way to other imaginaries and serve as a critical resource. Through installation, sculpture, film, and text, they explore the links between memory, material ecology, architecture, ordinary technologies, and family life. Their work dialogues between ruin and reconstruction, craftsmanship and digital culture, to reveal tensions between production systems and forms of resistance. Blending personal stories and collective issues, they develop a hybrid practice: observing the mythologies of contemporary capitalism without disillusionment, traversing them without renouncing empathy, humor, or attention to daily life, notably the optimistic experience of family life. Between idealized futures and realities of exhaustion, the environments they propose are sites of reconstruction where old systems are dismantled to allow fragile new possibilities to emerge. Post-industrial and intimate, these spaces question: What remains when utopias collapse? How to rebuild in the face of loss? How do emotional, personal, and political coexist in shaping new visions of the world?
