Description

Le Corbusier, both criticized and admired, still leaves no one indifferent today. The revolutionary aspect of his architecture, the 'machine à habiter' – raw concrete, human-centered spaces with innovations like the modulor – has long been the only aspect highlighted. However, a less known fundamental component of his constructions involved color, not as decoration but as a way to 'dissolve the masses.' Thus, he worked with color as he did with forms. To grasp the strength of this theory, Yves André has created a photographic work highlighting the colors in Le Corbusier's buildings. By playing with our vision, places fixed in two dimensions become a path to follow in the space designed by Le Corbusier, for whom 'architectural polychromy does not kill the walls, but it can move them in depth and classify them by importance.' Opening on Friday, September 4th at 7 PM. A guided tour led by Yves André and Pascal Bourquin will be organized on October 22nd at 7 PM. Yves André, Geneva, 1956, lives in Fleurier, is an architecture, landscape, and archaeology photographer. The exhibition is included in the entry to the Maison blanche.
