Description
Between sound art and environmental reflection, recycling becomes an instrument. Gregor Amadeus Mayrhofer's Concerto transforms discarded items into music – interpreted by the expressive percussionist Vivi Vassileva. Fundamentally, a percussion concert is not only an acoustic but also a visual experience. And not only since John Cage has the instrumentation often consisted more of found objects than traditional instruments. In the Recycling Concerto by the Munich composer Gregor Amadeus Mayrhofer, it is about more than just effects. Glass bottles and plastic bags, flower pots, a deposit bottle marimba, and other recycling waste combine here in the most exciting way with the orchestral instruments. Mayrhofer musically addresses the increasing pollution of the environment in a highly complex way and provides the percussionist and the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra with a complex yet entertaining stage. Vivi Vassileva is an artist who remeasures and shifts the boundaries of percussion music and excellently understands how to ignite the spark between the work and the audience. She is celebrated not only for her brilliant technique but also for her stage performance, which is equally athletic and charismatic. Vivi Vassileva, Percussion
