Gabriela Montero, Simon Höfele and Zurich Chamber Orchestra

Description

PROGRAM Ruth Gipps Cringlemire Garden. Impression for String Orchestra, op. 39 Leoš Janáček Idyll for Strings Sergei Prokofiev Vision fugitives, op. 22 arranged for string orchestra by Rudolf Barschai Dmitri Shostakovich Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra in C minor, op. 35 Gabriela Montero Improvisations as an encore When Gabriela Montero improvises, music is created in the moment: immediate, unrepeatable, full of risk and fantasy. In Vaduz, the exceptional pianist can be experienced together with trumpeter Simon Höfele and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. Shostakovich's Concerto for Piano, Trumpet and Strings forms the sparkling centerpiece of the evening: virtuosic, cheeky, biting and full of rhythmic energy. Before that, very different soundscapes open up: Ruth Gipps paints a poetic nature picture in Cringlemire Garden, Janáček lets his Idyll for Strings bloom warmly and cantabile, Prokofiev's Vision fugitives flit by as pointed miniatures. In the end, Montero herself becomes the composer of the moment: with improvisations that only arise on this evening.
