In hypnotic dance, body movements, like those of a machine, give life to a disturbing and irresistible force.
VIS MOTRIX immerses us in a hypnotic universe where bodies seem hybrid, on the border of human and machine. The dancers evolve like a collective organism, traversed by an invisible force, a soul of movement (vis motrix), which questions our relationship to the body, the unconscious, and contemporary metamorphoses. The choreography draws from breaking and krump languages to transform them into a post-human gesture. Between raw energy and precision, a dance of powerful magnetic presence is born, whose movement intelligence has been celebrated worldwide.
Rafaële Giovanola is among the most important choreographers and cultural mediators on the contemporary scene. The jury awards the Deutscher Tanzpreis 2027 to Rafaële Giovanola in recognition of 25 years of exceptional artistic creation and her decisive contribution to contemporary dance.
