Description

During a family gathering, buried wounds resurface: between silences and taboos, a son and his mother try to free themselves from a toxic inheritance.
On the occasion of a party organized around the sick grandfather, Denys and his mother Elie are confronted with a family history marked by unspoken truths and an intimate betrayal that their surroundings deny. Denys refuses to take on this violent inheritance, while Elie struggles to protect her son and break away from a traumatic past. Born from the author's reflection Magali Mougel on the feeling of owing her parents, this creation questions family ties as obligations. It exposes the mechanisms of guilt and questions what we really pass on to our children. Here, the figure of the father — an aging patriarch — echoes Shakespeare's King Lear: a man who confuses gift, power, and love, and whose transmission becomes a test of loyalty.
