Description

The collection presentation resembles a visual family reunion: self-portraits by artists are met with depictions of mothers, uncles, and cousins. How do artists portray themselves – and those close to them? We encounter painting brothers, farming families, and works from four generations. But kinship is found not only in families but also between works. They can be similar in form, motif, or technique, across times and genres. The exhibition shows tense and harmonious constellations – as in some families.
