Thimo Niesterok (*1996) is one of the most exciting voices of the young German jazz scene. As a trumpeter, he fascinates not only with technical brilliance but especially with his passion for swing and mainstream jazz. His warm, nuanced tone and unmistakable phrasing make every performance an intense experience – for both long-time jazz fans and new, especially young listeners.
During his studies at the Cologne University of Music and Dance, his concert activities took him to distant countries like India and South Korea. As a two-time recipient of the Kobe Jazz Street Award, he also traveled to Japan, where he thrilled an international audience. With his current quartet, Niesterok rekindles the spirit of the swing era:
Inspired by Clark Terry, Harry “Sweets” Edison, Count Basie, and the legendary trio of Oscar Peterson, the band plays classics from the 20s to 40s in fresh arrangements – with plenty of room for improvisational development.
