For Hermann Frommhold: 20 years as chairman of the Society of Friends of the Castle Concerts Bad Krozingen e. V. Franz Schubert: Piano Trio in B-flat major D 28
Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Trios in D major op. 70 No. 1 "Ghost Trio" and E-flat major op. 70 No. 2 While Beethoven was working on his Symphonies No. 5 and 6, he stayed in Floridsdorf at the estate of Countess Marie Erdödy. As a token of gratitude for her hospitality, he dedicated to her the two piano trios composed at the same time, which were performed in winter 1808 with the composer at the piano at the Countess's house. His piano trios are among Beethoven's most original compositions. The evening opens with the single-movement piano trio in B-flat major D 28, in which fifteen-year-old Franz Schubert first explores the combination of piano and strings.
