Description

Roy Assaf's pieces are characterized by a distinctive artistic handwriting and fine humor. Together with the dancers, he develops choreographies that appear captivating and light, yet are worked with great precision and attention to detail. In this way, he references social conditions and power structures, creating choreographies where dance unfolds its full power: generous and vulnerable, connecting and subversive, subtle and concise. The Israeli choreographer Roy Assaf worked for several years as a dancer and assistant with Emanuel Gat before starting to choreograph in 2010. He works with his own ensemble as well as companies like the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Batsheva Dance Company, and Juilliard School, as well as TanzMainz and the National Theatre Mannheim. Roy Assaf has a long-standing collaboration with the UnterwegsTheater makers Jai Gonzales and Bernhard Fauser. Recently, the Heidelberg audience was able to see guest performances of "Girls" and "The Fall of a Structure" at the HebelHalle. The Solitude Of An Art Piece by Roy Assaf in collaboration with the dancers and Romy Lahav (cast of the world premiere). Dance: Ella Isman-Liwer, Yael Sarfaty, Liyah Avishay, Sia Sivan, Ruth Dagay.
